Despite the specificity of the modern techno-era, eco-style in the interior is gaining more and more adherents. Its unique feature is the ability to harmoniously combine with minimalism, hi-tech, Provence, ethnic and other popular modern styles. This design direction is distinguished by natural colors, smooth lines, muted shades and natural materials.
Types of materials for making furniture
The main materials used for the manufacture of interior items in eco-style are:
- MDF is a medium-density fiberboard. Since wood fibers are used as raw materials, products made from it are easy to care for and resistant to moisture. The outer part of MDF panels is most often covered with varnished veneer. This allows you to choose any shade for decoration that helps the furniture easily fit into the eco-style;
- Chipboard (chipboard) has an affordable price. From the variety of shades presented, you can quickly choose the right one. However, such products are toxic, since the production of the material uses formaldehyde resins, which can be harmful to health.
- Natural wood. Modern solid wood furniture, the environmental friendliness of which does not need to be proven, optimally matches the design concept under consideration. Due to its naturalness, it does not release hazardous compounds into the space. Interior items made from coniferous trees, on the contrary, release essential oils into the air, which have a beneficial effect on the condition of the respiratory system.
This material retains all the qualities of wood, so solid wood structures are durable. Safety is expressed in a high degree of shock absorption. Low thermal conductivity explains the pleasant tactile sensations when touching a wooden surface.
Focus on the main thing: quality of wooden furniture
The main criteria that such furniture groups must meet are:
- concise design;
- clarity of lines;
- simple geometry;
- ergonomics;
- artificially aged elements.
Harmony in details: proven combinations
Eco-style implies naturalness in all its manifestations. Natural colors are ideal as a base – white, gray, beige, wood, sand, ivory and others. To add accents, it is advisable to use shades that are subconsciously associated with nature – olive, mint, light green. For finishing, it is preferable to use deliberately rough textures – cotton, linen, wool. Light woven or bamboo curtains will organically complement the idea.
Parquet or ceramic tiles are suitable for finishing the floor. It is best to whitewash the ceiling or trim it with wood panels. Spot lighting and lampshades of regular geometric shape will add ease to the atmosphere. The decor needs to be given special attention. It should complement the overall concept, but not cause a feeling of redundancy. Large potted plants, paintings, clay, wooden or bone figurines, wicker vases and baskets are suitable for these purposes. An aquarium would look appropriate: it will add originality to the setting and become the finishing touch.
Nature is the source of life and naturalness. Therefore, a simple and laconic interior, complemented by solid wood furniture, is a wonderful solution for everyone who strives for purity, naturalness and harmony.
