Furniture accompanies every person throughout his life from ancient times to the present day. Furniture accompanies each of us both in everyday life and at work in the office or in production. Without furniture it is impossible to arrange a comfortable life; every person needs something to sit on, sleep on and somewhere to store their numerous things.
Naturally, the very first samples of furniture of ancient people were predominantly primitive, and were made from materials common in each specific area. For the peoples of the middle and northern latitudes, the main building and finishing material was natural wood, which was widely used for the construction of housing and other various buildings. Therefore, since ancient times, our people have had great respect for wood. Not only were houses built from wood, the first rough-hewn furniture was also made from it, as well as dishes, children’s toys and various intricate items. Russian craftsmen have reached unprecedented heights in wood processing, as evidenced by monuments of Russian architecture decorated with wooden “lace”.
For this reason, with a sharp increase in mass demand for the production of affordable furniture, furniture enterprises began to use other furniture materials on a large scale, primarily chipboards and fiberboards. The massive use of such materials made it possible to provide our people with necessary and affordable furniture, which, unfortunately, did not differ in quality, durability and variety of design solutions. Over time, the faceless standard furniture was replaced by a time when our compatriots again began to give preference to natural furniture.
Modern furniture enterprises produce furniture from various types of natural wood, from rare and especially valuable species to common species in order to reduce the price segment with the permitted use of artificial furniture materials.
