Modern universal chests of drawers

Of course, in terms of capacity, chests of drawers are incomparably inferior to cabinets, but they have a fairly important advantage over cabinets. Chests of drawers occupy minimal living space and, unlike wardrobes, do not clutter up the space. In addition, the chests of drawers have a multifunctional lid that can serve various purposes.

The history of the appearance and development of chests of drawers as one of the furniture items continues as long as the history of the development of our civilization. Since ancient times, people have had problems storing more and more things.

The first piece of furniture of the so-called storage system was a chest known to many, which happily survived until the time of our great-grandmothers. Chests fully satisfied the needs of that time for storing the most expensive and valuable things for the family. Already in those days, chests enjoyed great and well-deserved popularity, but they were treated with respect. They were made not only to be durable and reliable, but also decorated with all sorts of colored patterns, which once again indicated that the chest itself and its contents had special meaning for the family.

True, the chest, as furniture for a storage system, had one significant drawback. In order to get the necessary thing out of the chest – clothes, tablecloth, etc., sometimes it was necessary to shift the entire contents of the chest, which naturally did not add optimism to the housewives. This drawback prompted the craftsmen of those times to create chests with drawers, the prototypes of today’s chests of drawers. Over time, furniture makers began to make chests of drawers in a variety of styles, from a variety of furniture materials, and most importantly in a wide variety of sizes. The main advantage of chests of drawers is the ability to store household items after sorting them. In other words, by defining “their own” drawers for certain things, the owners will not have to go through all the things in order to quickly get what they are looking for.

Due to their diversity in basic parameters, chests of drawers have now found the widest use in arranging almost all rooms in a house or apartment. There will always be a demand for a chest of drawers and a place in the living room or bedroom, in the children’s room and hallway, etc. Chests of drawers are in many cases the optimal piece of furniture for a storage system with sufficient capacity.

In the living room, the chest of drawers can be given a modest corner, where it will perform its functions and not be conspicuous, or, on the contrary, made in the same style as the main furniture of the living room, determine a place in what is called the front corner and place a television panel on it. In the bedroom, a chest of drawers is usually used to store bed linen and many other things. In addition, if there is not enough space, the chest of drawers can be used as a dressing table. It is difficult to overestimate the importance of a chest of drawers for a children’s room – for storing bedding and children’s linen, and the bottom drawer is usually reserved for children’s toys.

Almost no hallway is complete without a modern chest of drawers, regardless of its spaciousness. Having identified the top drawer for storing various accessories, the owners will stop searching for keys, gloves, umbrellas and other various small items. Furniture craftsmen pay great attention to the use of high-quality guides in chests of drawers for easy opening and closing of drawers.
